Gynecomastia is the excessive development of breasts in male subjects.
Causes can be varied, some of the most frequent being:
- Mammary gland augmentation
- Adipose accumulation
Depending on whether the augmentation is caused only by the adipose tissue or only by the mammary gland, in the first case the procedure involves simply the aspiration of the adipose tissue, while in the second case the gland is removed.
The operation is almost always executed in Day Hospital.
The patient is discharged with a compressive elastic stocking that must be worn for about two weeks.
Surgical stitches are removed after approximately ten days, while any kind of activity can be resumed after one month.
